It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

What is love? 

We use the word love in so many different ways. We love our parents, and our parents love each other, and we love ice cream. But “Love” is more than just a word or feeling. In 1 Corinthians, love is expressed in our actions and attitudes toward others.

What part of the verse means the most to you? 

How can we be more patient and kind? I am asking myself as much as I am asking you. I know it can be really hard to be kind when someone is mean, disrespectful, speaks harshly, or even ignores me on purpose. But we must remember God knows everything. God sees us and knows if we are kind back to this person or not.

It’s important to understand love and practice it every day. I’m not saying this is always easy, but if we love God and God is love, God calls us to love others.

I fix dinner for my family to show them I love them. I always make something special for each person. For example, my daughter doesn’t like potatoes. So If we have potatoes, because we all like potatoes, I always fix her something extra that she likes.

So how can you express God’s love to one another? One way is by giving hugs and kisses to your parents and being kind to your brothers and sisters. Another way is doing things for people to help out without being asked to do it. Sharing and spending time with others also shows love.

As parents showing God’s love can be as simple as being there for your kiddos. I know that my daughter (when she was in high school) often didn’t want my advice. She just wanted my listening ear.
